I was playing with settings and stuff and noticed somewhat to my amazement that after adding just one slide of 58k the projected size of the .exe file was showing as 2.3 meg!
I dont get that at all. Can anyone help with an explination of that please?

Andrew,

What was the actual compiled size result ?

Its hard to know what may have happened since you say you were playing with the settings on this project file ... try a brand new project with just that same image (dont play with settings) and Save the .pte file first and check the projected file output size in the staus bar.

The actual compiled file size is also higher @ some 50kb or so ... I suspect this is due to the new v6 icon file used and/or the new UPX packer process PTE is now using.

This is a screen capture of the area where I see the exe size displayed. Am I understanding this properly?
It shows over 2 meg and only 1 file added. I reset the defaults before I did so.
Much confusion!!!

Andrew
Add another slide & see what you get. If you are using PTE6 it's like nobeefstu said, it's like a default size, plus 1 slide.

Andrew:

Post the zip back up file for it.

I tried it with one 474kb slide and I am showing 834kb for the exe.

The compiled exe file was 914kb

Are you sure there is no music attached anywhere?

Andrew:

I just noticed something else strange with your file.

The screen print attached says the file is 1920x1080 and yet only 58kb ?!?!?!?!

What file size does the file show in EXPLORE ?

Surely it is bigger than 58kb unless it is one solid colour

I just did a test in PhotoShop and a one colour image (plain white or black) at quality 6 is 58kb.

Andrew,

The simplest technique to do that is File...New and start from a known empty project file.
