I have had to 'add' the audio from the video clip to be able to ramp up and down the beginning and ending of the video's audio (also muting the video clip itself). When a video clip is 'added', the audio shows up at the end of the Timeline or somewhere you don't expect it to be. You then have to then drag the audio clip to its proper position. My suggestion is that this audio section be 'added' directly below the video clip from where it came from (or where the mouse is positioned on the Timeline), not at the end of the Timeline.
